The challenge and why…

Last year members of North Yorkshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme decided to set a challenge of cycling 132 miles from Skipton to Bridlington to promote the importance of eye screening. We has such an amazing time and met some really lovely people along the way, that when we got together to celebrate the end, we set ourselves this new and bigger challenge of cycling from London to Paris. On September 5th 2014 we will cycle 210 miles from Tower Bridge in London to the infamous Eiffel Tower in Paris over 3 days. Our main focus is to raise awareness of diabetic eye screening and we hope to achieve this by blogging and tweeting the progress of our bike ride. We also wanted to raise money for a worthy cause and we have chosen the charity Medical Detection Dogs who train specialist dogs to detect the odour of human disease - such as diabetes. Lastly, but by no means least, this is also a personal challenge, which has got us all on our bikes, and we are getting fitter by the day!

Please visit our just giving website and donate to this worthy cause https://www.justgiving.com/nydesp/
